5 questions to ask

Starting a new organisation can be exciting. However, statistically speaking, most new ventures fail. But fret not, we are here to help make sure you succeed.

Through completing the following 5 questions you will hopefully have a clearer understanding as to the feasibility of your idea.

1. What do you want to do? Put as much detail as you can here. What is the activity? Who is it for? Who will provide it? How will it be paid for? What is the anticipated outcome? Who will benefit? What will the benefit be?

2. Why do you want to do this? What is your motivation for doing this? Are you wanting to help others? Are you hoping to make money? Are you building an empire?

3. Is there a need/gap? How to you know there is a need? Have you done any research? How do you know people are interested in what you are providing?

4. Is anyone else doing it? Is anyone doing the same or similar work? Have you spoken to them? Could you work with them and save your self from starting from scratch (Collaboration often brings better outcomes than working in competition. Get the details of their work, their outcomes and whether there is space for you both in the marketplace.) If you are going alone, what is it that will make you different/ better than them?

5. If no-one else is doing it, why not? If no-one else is going what you want to do, why not? Has anyone tired it before? Has someone else had a failed attempt at the same idea? What can you learn from that?
