Meet the Team

What’s your name?

Luthien Lark ( It's from Tolkien’s - Lord of the Rings )

 What’s your role at HTSI?

I am the Volunteer Academy Lead & Senior Development Officer for Volunteering in Highland

Have you volunteered in the past?

Yes many times from a young age, I started of stewarding at dog and horse shows, then got involved in running community music events in my early 20’s onwards. At University, I spent 4 years volunteering with Befriend a Child in Aberdeen, which I loved, then became a Trustee of a Horse Sanctuary in Moray until I moved away. I have also been a Chair of a Community After School Club and been on committees running family fun days and open mics for all. Currently, I am a Trustee of Centred.

What do you like doing for fun?

I still play guitar and sing when I get the chance. I love reading, some of my recent favourites are Erin Morgenstein – The Starless Sea and Matt Haig – The Life Impossible (though The Humans is still his best one I think). I also enjoy walking, writing poems and showing my dog when I can.

Do you have any pets?

Yes I do, she is a Basenji called Rosie. She’s the wildest little pup I have ever owned and she is meant to be a show dog but she would rather have fun than prance around the ring. So, I might have to give up on that idea.

If you could have one super power for the day, what would it be?

The ability to freeze time, then I could catch up on things I need to do and I could learn lots of new fun stuff before re-starting it again, also in the morning, I could have an extra hour in bed, make coffee and take it easy without being late.
