Volunteer Driver

L’Arche Highland is a community for people with and without learning disabilities. We work to support individuals to achieve their fullest potential in a vibrant, caring environment based on principles of mutual relationship, shared life, and spirituality. Members with learning disabilities are known as ‘core members’ because they are at the heart of everything we do. Our community is made up for four residential houses in Inverness, four busy and fun-filled workshops (gardening, woodwork, candle-making and life skills), and our beautiful grounds and gardens. Core members are supported to achieve greater independence while also taking part in a thriving community life, whether through regular gatherings, celebrations, or participation in the wider community. What we’re looking for: We're looking for volunteers from all walks of life to provide essential transport to our core members with learning disabilities.* By offering as little as a couple of hours each week, or as much as a full day, you will help adults with learning disabilities to attend social groups, community gatherings, days out and trips, appointments, work or volunteering commitments. You will thereby contribute to the vital social inclusion of individuals who can often be marginalised or isolated, particularly in the Highlands where transport is limited. We also hope you will become a part of our thriving community, building trusting, mutually fulfilling relationships with adults with learning disabilities, and developing connections that will remain with you for life.
