Role Description

We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our weekly community soup lunches. Our soup lunches are a chance for local people to get together, enjoy some homemade soup and a chat, meet others and spend a little time in good company. We're looking for volunteers to help make these lunches happen, whether that's preparing the soup, serving our guests or helping with the general set-up and clear-up. You don't need to commit to every week. We'd love to build a small team of volunteers who can share the responsibility through a rota, so you can offer as much or as little time as suits you. What could you help with? There are a few ways to get involved: - Making soup: Prepare a pot of homemade soup for the weekly lunch. The cost of ingredients will be reimbursed. - Serving lunches: Welcome people, serve soup and help make everyone feel at home. - Setting up: Help arrange tables, prepare the space and get everything ready. - Clearing up: Help wash dishes, tidy the kitchen and put everything away. You can choose to help with one activity or a combination of them. When would you be needed? Our weekly soup lunches follow this schedule: - 12.15pm: Volunteers arrive to help set up. - 1.00pm: Lunch is served. - 2.00pm: Clear-up begins. - 2.30/2.45pm: Finished! What we're looking for - A friendly, welcoming attitude and a willingness to help. - An interest in bringing people together and supporting the local community. - Reliability when you've signed up for a particular date. - A willingness to work as part of a small team. Minimum age: 16 years. No previous experience is necessary, and you don't need to be a great cook to get involved! We'll provide guidance and support and make sure everyone knows what needs doing. Interested in helping? - Whether you can help once a month, occasionally or more regularly, we'd love to hear from you. Every helping hand makes a difference. Get in touch to find out more or to add your name to our volunteer rota. This project is supported by the HTSI Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund for Adults - Year 6, helping us create opportunities for connection, friendship and improved wellbeing within our community.
