Inverness

1-2 hours weekly

Role Description

Reach4Reality works with autistic young people and young adults involving them in a range of outdoor activities tailored to their individual needs. Activities might be short 1:1 sessions with our staff, half day/day activities during the holidays, building up to overnight stays, weekend camps and 5 day camps. The role of an activities volunteer is to come and support young people and young adults with autism or another social communication difficulty on some of our regular evening activities. These take place at various venues within Inverness or immediate area e.g. climbing at the Ledge, biking on local trails, badminton in Invernessm canoeing at Muirtown basin or Dochgarroch.Volunteers do the outdoor activities (e.g. canoeing, kayaking, biking, walking) alongside the young people and our staff, supporting them as required, but primarily just befriending them and helping to make sure that they have a fun and rewarding experience. Would be suitable for someone doing their DofE volunteering. No specific experience of outdoor activities required, just a reasonable level of fitness and a willing to give activities a try!
