Role Description

Aim or goal of position: By the River Café @ Highland Hospice provides members of the public, patient visitors, staff and volunteers with home baking, snacks and lunches and is a valuable source of fundraising for the Hospice. The café is counter service and volunteers serve teas, coffees, baking and light lunches prepared in the kitchen. Main responsibilities: - To provide high standards of customer care to all who visit the café - To serve home baking, snacks, soup and lunches to customers - To handle cash and operate the computerized till and card machine - To operate the coffee machine - To clear tables and keep the café looking presentable for customers entering - To operate the dishwasher when required and return clean dishes to the café - To follow open / close down procedures for the café including cashing up and cleaning the coffee machine

Training Provided:

Training:
Induction - including health & Safety
3 shadow training shifts
Food Safety Hygiene – 2 yearly
Moving and Handling (inanimate objects) – 2 yearly
Fire Awareness - yearly
Length of commitment sought:
Open ended, for as long as there is mutual benefit for Highland Hospice and the volunteer.
