Role Description

Volunteers in Samaritans offer their time to help deliver a free, 24-hour emotional support service to callers in many ways - answering telephones, emails, fundraising, publicity, admin Listening volunteers answer calls and messages from people who really need someone to talk to and we are recruiting for the Samaritans Branch in Inverness. You don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life. Anyone who wants to help others, is tolerant and open-minded is welcome to apply. You’ll receive full training to prepare you and knowing you’re helping people who are in despair is really satisfying. Generally we hope volunteers can do one shift (3-4 hours) each week (holiday breaks are allowed of course!) and where possible a night shift 2-3 times a year. We offer flexible volunteering and make every effort to accommodate volunteers with particular needs. Please give Alison a call if you want more information 07443456638

Training Provided:

You will receive full training to prepare you for the kinds of conversations you’ll have. And when you start out, you’ll have a mentor with you, to give you confidence you’re doing the right thing.
