Rolling deadline, ongoing applications
Inverness, Easter Ross, Caithness, Lochaber
1 hour per week, during school term time
Role Description
MCR Pathways is a one to one mentoring programme that takes place in secondary schools across Scotland, including 11 within the Highlands and Islands. We are seeking volunteer mentors from all walks of life, to support a young person in their community, for just one hour per week, in school, during term time. Our vision is that all young people who are care experienced, or experiencing vulnerability, have equality of educational outcomes, career choices and life chances with their peers. MCR Pathways carefully matches young people with their mentor, based on shared interests, career aspirations and personality. The one hour per week could involve anything from having a chat, playing a board game, going for a walk in the school grounds, or helping with homework; but the main thing is to be there as a supporting adult in the young person's life. The results for our young people are exceptional and we know that mentors also get so much from the experience. Currently, the elven schools in Highlands where we are seeking mentors are Wick High School, Lochaber High School, Invergordon Academy, Alness Academy, Dingwall Academy, Nairn Academy, Golspie High School, Culloden Academy, Inverness High School and Inverness Royal Academy. As well as the Nicolson Institute in the Western Isles.
